Reading, Visual Stress and Coloured Overlays

Forrest Optometrists Dyslexia overlaysDyslexia is not caused by problems with vision, but certain visual problems are more common in dyslexia and may contribute to reading difficulties. These problems include poor coordination of the 2 eyes, and difficulties with near focussing. These can often be treated with simple eye exercises, or in some cases spectacles may be helpful.

An eye examination cannot diagnose dyslexia, but if dyslexia is suspected it is useful to check that the vision is normal.

Both children and adults with reading difficulties may benefit from the use of coloured filters.
